The Journey

Our home valley around Rakchham holds some of the darkest, clearest skies in India. This is a dedicated stargazing expedition built around a guided night trek — we climb gently to a high meadow under the Milky Way, set up telescopes, and spend the night learning the sky. Offered in both summer and winter: soft alpine nights when the passes are green, or crisp, crystalline skies when the valley is under snow.

Frequently asked

How hard is the night trek?+

It is a gentle, well-paced climb suitable for anyone with basic fitness. We walk slowly with headlamps and local guides, and the viewpoint is not far from Rakchham.

What if it is cloudy?+

Skies here are clear most nights, and we build in a second attempt. If clouds win, we run indoor astronomy sessions and adjust the plan — the mountains always have a backup plan.

Is winter very different from summer?+

Winter skies are the clearest and most dramatic of the year, but far colder — we provide guidance and stay in warm homes. Summer nights are gentler and greener. Both are unforgettable.
